The tertiary education in Australia can be broadly classified under 3 different categories.
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING (VET)
HIGHER EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree, Graduate Certificates, Diplomas & Master's degree by coursework
MASTER'S BY RESEARCH AND DOCTORATE
Vet consists of Certificate III, IV of Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs of the duration of 1.5 to 2.5 years
All Bachelor Degrees are of 3 years while professional degrees such as Engineering or degree with Hon’s are of 4 years.
Masters Degree's duration would depend on the basis of your bachelor's degree. Normally the duration of the Master's degree is 1.5 to 2 years. In some circumstances where the student's Bachelor's degree from India is found to be not equivalent to the Australian degree the student may have to undergo a additional semester or year of study through the Graduate Diploma or Post Graduate Qualifying program. In this case the Master's degree would take 2.5 to 3 years.
